Photography is "light writing" and that means..

that we are writing--but with light (duh!). A thousand words can be told visually.

Light is an amazing (and complex) thing! It can be reflected, projected, or refracted. It can travel through space for years. It can be converted to energy. It's both a particle and a wave. And it can write.

Let's revisit the term "light writing." The photographers manipulate light to create images on light-sensitive material (or an image sensor) such as film. The photographer is the author, the picture is the paper, the camera is the pen & the light is the ink. Maybe a picture really is worth 1,000 words!
